One of the biggest surprises to me after I had Azai was how quickly the weight DID NOT fall off! I stayed as fit and active as I could through out the entire pregnancy in hopes that I would be right back to my pre-pregnancy body soon after giving birth. I've learned it takes some time but it is possible! Here are some things I did to help:
1. Drink TONS of water. This will also help to increase your milk supply! I tried to drink close to a gallon of water a day.
2. Eat nutrient dense foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and whole grains.
3. Take a walk with baby in stroller. I walked about 30 minutes a day to get some fresh air, give baby fresh air, and get some exercise.
4. Make sure you're eating enough.Having a baby is exhausting and busy so it's important to make sure you're getting the calories your body needs. Otherwise, your body will start storing whatever food it does get and it might also cause your milk supply to drop.
5. Cut out sugary drinks. You don't want to drink your calories (unless it's a healthy shake). Things such as juices, Gatorade, flavored coffee creamers, and sweet teas should all be taken out of your everyday diet. You can, however, try sugar-free or zero calorie drinks and creamers.
6. Do some sort of muscle-building exercises. This does not have to be elaborate! I found "Madfit" on youtube and started doing her 10-20 minute body weight workouts right in my living room while baby slept. They are the perfect workouts for any skill level, they only take a maximum of 20 minutes, and you don't need any equipment! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpQ34afVgk8cRQBjSJ1xuJQ
I have been doing all of these tips listed above for 3 months. I now weigh 7 pounds less than my pre-pregnancy weight! Stick to it and you'll be so glad you did.
